 Polygiene’s® vision is a world where we wash half as often, and where products last more than twice the time they currently do. There are enormous positive environmental gains to be achieved from this. For instance, just skipping 1 out of 10 washes shows a reduction in total toxicity and large improvements on CO2, microplastics and all other things that should concern us as a collective. A garment that lives nine months longer, saves 16% CO2, 20% water, and 8% waste on the environmental footprint.

What are the benefits of Biostatic stays fresh technology?

The silver salt (AgCl, silver chloride) in Biostatic inhibits and guards against the growth of odors from bacteria and fungi. This means products stay fresh and hygienic.

What is Biostatic stays fresh technology and how does it work?

It is based on silver salt (silver chloride). Silver chloride is naturally present in water and soil.

Its particles have a large number of silver ions per surface area. Due to the structure of the particles, very small amounts of silver salt are needed.

Polygiene® is in most cases co-applied with other treatments to the fabric during the finishing stage. This helps minimize the impact on the environment because additional energy or water isn’t required.

Are there any effects when worn next to skin?

Polygiene® has a background in the healthcare sector and the treatments have undergone extensive skin sensitivity testing.

There is no interference with bacteria naturally occurring on the skin – it is active only on the material’s surface, even when used for long periods of time. Tests also conclude that there is no identified risk from dermal and oral contact with silver treatments. Polygiene® isn’t nanosilver.


As several treatments can be simultaneously applied, no additional water or energy is needed and the impact on the environment is reduced.

Does it have any environmental approvals?

Polygiene® Stays Fresh Technology is bluesign® approved, the textile industry’s demanding environmental certification with a life-cycle approach. It also has Oeko-tex Eco Passports approval, it’s registered under the EU Biocidal Product Directive (BPD) and approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It also meets the requirements of REACH, the EU’s chemicals legislation.

Can Polygiene® treated garments be recycled?

Polygiene® treated garments and gear can absolutely be recycled.




Odor control that is simply based on a sand and water solution. Environmental odors such as cooking fumes and cigarette smoke tend to stick to garments, however, once the odor molecules have stuck to the modified silica particles in Odor Crunch, they will be crunched and cracked to smaller odorless molecules and the odor is eliminated for the lifetime of the garment.

The production technology is patented and produced in Sweden. No waste is accumulated during the production process, as all raw material is turned into the final product.

What is the treatment made of?

Polygiene® Odor Crunch consists of 95% filtered river water and 5% modified silica sand particles, and it is not a biocide.

Does it have any environmental approvals?

Polygiene® Odor Crunch stays fresh technology has the approvals and certifications relevant for textiles: bluesign® and Oeko-tex Eco Passports and treated products can be recycled.

What is the combination product and why is it the best solution?

It is a combination of the Odor Crunch and Biostatic stays fresh technologies based on modified silica particles and silver salt. The combination treatment now covers odors caused by bacteria, such as sweat odor, as well as odors from environmental sources. This means that it is truly providing a “full coverage” odor-free and sustainable solution to the textile environmental issues of today.
